The traces of Samurai – Yogen-In, Genko-An, Shoden-ji

  • In year 1600, the forces of Tokugawa from Edo seized the Fushimi Castle in Kyoto.
  • Around 380 samurai inside the castle did not want to surrender and finally decided to commit seppuku.
  • The blood was all over the floor and the wooden pieces were distributed to the 7 temples in the vicinity to be prayed.
  • The blood ceilings can be seen today. (In the pic, Yogen-In blood stains nd foot print on the ceiling) .
